What to Expect When We See Your Equine Partner
How Front Range Equine approaches your horse’s problem with our sports medicine, lameness, acupuncture and chiropractic expertise depends on the reason that you, your veterinarian, trainer and/or farrier want us to examine your horse (the “presenting concern”).
The first step (except for a pre-purchase exam) will be to discuss the symptom(s) that cause the horse to be examined. We will also want:
-
To see the horse’s medical history. Please click HERE to fill in our Horse History Form.
-
If available, at the appointment have your primary veterinarian provide any radiographs, ultrasounds, and any other previous imaging or diagnosis is done on your horse.
-
To understand how the horse is being used (discipline(s) and current training program);
-
To understand how the horse will be used (discipline(s) and intensity) going forward.
If you think your horse's lameness or symptoms are more visible (or are worse) under saddle, please bring your tack and helmet so that you can ride your horse.
Our Front Range Equine Performance team then does an examination of the horse, employing various diagnostic imaging to identify the root cause of the problem. We then review our diagnosis and recommended treatment or rehabilitation program with you, and your primary veterinarian.
If the treatment plan is approved, we will implement it, keeping your primary care veterinarian a partner in the process.
